Assignment #13

We are the 99% and so is everyone else. One of the biggest questions I bet everyone asks themselves is what caused the whole strike? Why now? If the problem has been going on for many years now. I believe everyone should pay attention because they don't know what going to happen and if they do make a difference. Its going to affect you, so you should be a part of it. The only people that don't feel affected is the 1% because they are filled with money. The 99% are getting jobs taken away and losing loans. Which people can't go to school or do what they have to do in order to succeed. If you think about who are the ones paying really high taxes and the gas parcises are really high. In return we still get treated really bad. The 1% are not even affected by anything.

Assignment#12 Research

I. Introduction
The question I came up with is, what cause the people to protest now?, what tiggered the whole thing? The way I am going to catch my audience attention is by informing them how it affects them individually. Why they should pay attention to whats going around them and its even world wide. The main point in my presentation will be why did the people would start to protest now, if it has been going on for many years? Also one of my biggest main points is why did the people starting protesting in front of the library. If the library had nothing to do with it, in my opinion they should protest in front of big businesses. For example like in front of Chase and big corporations.

II. Body
one of my biggest supporting materials is from the Occupy Wall Street website. Which talks about how the movement is about everything. Theres is a march for jobs and economic fairness. The movement is based on issues of unemployments and unequal income distribution. They also believe that the middle class is being reduced. In the article it sys "Nearly seven in 10 respondents said the current tax system. A repeat said is partially responsible for income inequality is "unfair."
What seems to be the big issue to people is about the income inequality. The movement is more on GOP lawmakers. They have tried to complete and disqualify the occupy protests and stamp out any Discussion. The 99 percent is all the middle class everyone is getting their rights taking away and also people that have to stop going to college because corporations can't give them money no more.
The corporations add a private tax to everything sell. They would even charge income tax on all their employees and stockholders. People are mad and upset that the government doesn't do anything about this problems. All they do is stick around and let everything happen.
My main points are people just garthered together and form groups to protest about all the unfairness. Also unequal inequality . People are just tired of the government and not doing anything about anything. How all the middle class people have to pay the most taxes and stuff.

Assignment#8Cubism & Pablo Picasso

Blue Period

http://pablo-picasso.paintings.name * What captures your eye about this image? What do you like about the image?
I really like how the lady is holding the baby in her arms. But it also seems to me like if the mom just caught her daughter having sex with her boyfriend. I think the colors really bring the picture to life because it's letting you know that there is something wrong with the picture.

* What visual elements (the basic things that can be seen)? What details are shown in the image? What do you see?

Looks like there is a couple standing there naked in front of another lady. The lady is holding the baby in her arms. The colors are really dark, sad and boring. On the very background there is another couple like hugging each other. It seems like they are in a room.

* What colors are used in this image? What type of emotions do the colors portray? Where are the specific colors located on the image that give off a specific emotion.

Blue and dark colors. Which make the picture really depressing and sad, upsetting. I believe the room gives a really depressed and sad color that makes everything pop out. Another symbol that I think was good was the lady with the black robe. It seems like she is the boss. For some reason I can feel her presence that is really strong and bossy. I really think she makes the whole picture stand out even more.

On the couple he used yellows and off whites. On the background he used dark colors and blues. Like if he had the blues. The lady holding the baby is wearing a black robe. The picture is really depressing and sad just looking at it. You can get all different emotions like feeling sad and depressing.

*What are the specific Elements of Art (Line, Color, Texture, Shape, Form, Size) is being shown in this image?

In my opinion I think color and texture has a lot to do with this image. This elements make the picture stand out and create a lot of feelings and emotions. Without the color the image would not be what it is. The background looks really depressing and sad.

*What are the specific Principles of Design (Center of Interest, Balance, Harmony, Contrast, Directional Movement, and Rhythm) are show in the image?

I believe it has center of interest because the main point has to do with the center of the picture. The main idea is the couple standing naked and the lady with the black robe holding the child in her hands. Its almost like if the couple some how got into trouble with the lady.

* How will this work of art influence your own Picasso Portrait? What specific Elements of Art and Principles of Design on this work will influence your own work?

This work will influence my portrait because it shows me I can show different emotions. That Picasso is all about showing texture, feelings, emotions and movement. Now I even think I got a good idea because I am going to show two different emotions on my work. I really think that color makes your portrait stand out more and help you give it emotion.

Assignment#6 Pablo Picasso Cubist Painting

Jocelyn Chavez

10/25/2011

Period 6

The Sun is Brighter On The Other Side

My Picasso Painting is called,”The Sun is Brighter on The Other Side”. I chose this name because that phrase has to do a lot with my painting. Which also represents my face how it has two sides to me. How one side is brighter than the other. In this piece I am going to talk about the elements of design, which is how color, lines, shape and texture affect my Picasso piece. I’m also going to describe what tools I used and what programs I used as well. What emotions, mood, and what the meaning of my piece is.

The elements of design that I used are line, color, shape and texture. In other words describes the dominate features in my work of art. I used color a lot in my portrait because I feel that different colors represent different emotions as well. For example on my right side of my face I used a lot of bright colors. I used hot pink because for me that represents a really happy and outgoing mood. I also used yellow because it represents all the achievements I have received.

On the left side of my face I put more like depressing colors. A lot like the blue period. I wanted to give my portrait that feeling of a depressing and all the sad moments I have gone through. One of the lines I used is on the right side of my chest. It’s a dark line which represents my birthmark, which runs in my whole family.

My Portrait is eight by ten. The program I used was Photoshop in my multimedia class. Photoshop is a really good program to use when you want to work with pictures. Or in other words to create a Picasso Painting. In order to create my unique Picasso Painting I used the color template, which allows me to look and chose any color I want. Some other tools I used that came in handy were, brushstrokes, the round angle low, the soft round brush, and color swatches. Each one of this tools helped me create special features and create texture as well in my painting. Some of the colors and tools helped me create my Picasso Painting.
The mood that I put in my painting was sad and depressing. But at the same time I put a happy and calm mood as well. For instance I wanted to show the two sides of me. The left side of my face represents all the sad moments and all the tough obstacles I had to go through. Its almost like I’m walking a path way on my face. Each thing leads and leads to other moods and moments. The right side of my face shows all the nice and good moments I enjoyed in life. In a way I wanted to confused the mood for a moment in my painting. I kind of wanted to mix the blue period and the rose period as well.
This was my most successful piece I ever created because I really brought who I was to the painting. I believe it carry's my whole life story in a way. I also got to express my feeling through art. I really understood how Picasso would just put paintings together by what he went through or felt. I actually put all my effort and took my time on my Picasso Painting.

Original

For my iPod silhouette I picked me riding a horse because I love to ride horses with my family. When I'm actually taking myself around my mom's town in Mexico. I feel like I have freedom in my heart and I can let all my stress out. Another reason is that all my family loves horses it like runs in our blood. Sadly my Great grandfather died because a horse kicked him really hard.
The process of making the silhouette was kind of difficult. We had to use the lasso tool to trace it around the picture. The program we used was Photoshop. After that we cut the picture and turned it black. We could choose any color for the background.

I believe this picture is talking about war. There is like a horse in the background and like spheres flying around. If I'm right there is also a pig on the other side like if it is against the horse. I also see like blood in the middle of the picture. I guess the horse all the way on the top is like the king of the herd.

In this picture I see a cow and a bunch of animals . Like if the people back then really believe in animals. I think like the animals were leading the way for everyone. But what I do not understand why is the cow facing the other way. Like the day is kind of dark. All the animals are like on top of a mountain and looking like they know where they are going.
