Semester Reflection

1) Reflect on your final grade in this class. What will you do to either keep the grade you received or how will you genuinely work to improve your grade in this class? (minimum of 5 sentence reflection).
I think I am okay with my final grade because I got an A.  I worked really hard to get my grade and made sure it didn't drop. To keep my grade I received I will turn in all my work on time and be on task with all my work. Another thing I need to come on time to class, not even be late one day. I am sure my grade will not go down this semester.
2) What was your favorite project this past semester and why? What was your least favorite project and why?(minimum of 5 sentence reflection).
My favorite project this semester was the Pablo Picasso. Because I really expressed myself and what my emotions are. My least favorite project was the one where we had to do the iMonto. But I didn't like it because I disliked the picture I put.  Overall I liked all the projects we did in the class, it was interesting.
3) How has your senior year been so far? Are you working towards your goals of graduating? If yes, what are you doing to making sure you stay on track? If no, what has been stopping you from reaching the goal of graduating?(minimum of 5 sentence reflection).
My senior year has been good so far because I have been getting my stuff done. I am working on my goals towards graduating because I will be the first one to graduate in my family. I need to start coming on time my first period so I can walk the stage. I am planning to go to a four year college as well.

4) What are you looking forward to most about graduating high school? (minimum of 5 sentence reflection).
I am looking forward to just facing the world. Also going to college not having a teacher following you in every step you take.  I'm also kind of scared of living by my own and growing up .  I don't want to leave my parents behind. I am happy I am going to do everything my brother didn't do.

Assignment#14

Jocelyn Chavez

10/25/2011

Period 6

The Sun is Brighter On The Other Side

My Picasso Painting is called,”The Sun is Brighter on The Other Side”. I chose this title because that phrase has to do a lot with my painting. Which also represents my face how it has two sides to me. How one side is brighter than the other. In this piece I am going to talk about the elements of design, which is how color, lines, shape and texture affect my Picasso piece. I’m also going to describe what tools I used and what programs I used as well. What emotions, mood, and what the meaning of my piece is.

The elements of design that I used are line, color, shape and texture. In other words describes the dominate features in my work of art. I used color a lot in my portrait because I feel that different colors represent different emotions as well. For example on my right side of my face I used a lot of bright colors. I used hot pink because for me that represents a really happy and outgoing mood. I also used yellow because it represents all the achievements I have received.

On the left side of my face I put more like depressing colors. A lot like the blue period. I wanted to give my portrait that feeling of a depressing and all the sad moments I have gone through. One of the lines I used is on the right side of my chest. It’s a dark line which represents my birthmark, which runs in my whole family. The mood that I put in my painting was sad and depressing. But at the same time I put a happy and calm mood as well. For instance I wanted to show the two sides of me. The left side of my face represents all the sad moments and all the tough obstacles I had to go through. Its almost like I’m walking a path way on my face. Each thing leads and leads to other moods and moments. The right side of my face shows all the nice and good moments I enjoyed in life. In a way I wanted to confused the mood for a moment in my painting. I kind of wanted to mix the blue period and the rose period as well.
